Young politicians..

Category: , By ANIRBAN CHATTERJIE

Hello December,

I am finally feeling the winter chill this year along with numerous other things I am feeling bitter over in 2010. Never felt it during the last 2 years (Pun intended) a light cardigan was enough. But it’s nice whatever happens is for the best isn’t it? The winter sun is so nice, Family-Friends picnic, children out playing in the sun. I don’t have any (sad or bad?) but this wonderful winter sunshine makes feel like making love outdoors to my bad habits (atleast it won’t desert me after that) ADVISORY REQUIRED – don’t try at home...I said outdoors!

For those who haven’t watched – KINDLY WATCH GULAAL AS SOON AS YOU READ THIS. Apart from what I am supposed to saying it’s a superb movie, wonderful acting blah blah bull shit..Watch Anurag Kashyap beautifully portraying the ever changing human face, good front of you and bitching behind you and most importantly how we use humans or better still fake relations.

Talking of Gulaal it reminds me of Student Politics prevalent largely across Bengal colleges. I condemn the violence that occurred last week. One killed and another’s eyeball shattered. I feel sad for his eye ball being smashed …His some other ball should have been destroyed instead!! Either they were actively involved or were innocent victims. If involved then what happened is for the best.

Come off it guys, face the real world where college politics don’t even help in getting you a day’s lunch. For all those budding young politicians, I want to ask do they even know President of India’s name.

Some lady nah… Abdul Kalam…Manmohan Singh…

These are the quick (and wrong) replies most of them will give. Some may even say Sonia Gandhi but few will actually get it right. Don’t believe me? Walk into union room of any college and randomly ask this to any 10 budding young politicians and you will know for yourself. Majority will be incorrect. But ask them who is Che Guerara…Whoa you don’t need an answer, you will find some flaunting Tshirts.

This is the sorry state of affairs. Please don’t make a fool out of yourself guys…Its hypocrisy. 1 in 10000 finally goes on to become the MDidi or BBabu we see today. And even if you become you will do the thing they are doing – egg others on instead of stopping the rot riot. How many of the Biman’s or Buddhadebs’s or Partha’s did actually even visit the scene last week or the bereaved family? NONE! They instead played what they are paid for – Blame game!

College is for studies. Graduation, post graduation and not the dummy game of politics played in the name of Chatra Rajneeti (Student Politics). Like we played business when we were kids. The real politics (Rajneeti) is played by the ones we elect and later curse - political bureaucrats (netas) and its dirty and the place is Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and not the college your parents send you with their hard earned money.

Sorry but I disagree strongly if you say this is part of growing up coz if you are growing up then you are also stalling others from growing up. And you will find some 40-50 year neighbor or uncle who now speaks of flowery of chatra politics and of its rightful existence; He never took part in this dirt, passed his Grads, studied well and he has some other secured means of earning his bread and butter. He isn’t a politician!

Few advices:

· Don’t waste your time in blocking busy roads like Hazra shouting SFI,SFI. Instead realize, excuse yourself and spend the time in some vocational training course which you can add to your skills/education for your CV.

· Know the names of India’s President and the post held by Dr. Manmohan Singh (PM), Mrs. Sonia Gandhi (Chairperson UPA) and Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam (Ex President).

· There is much more to life than College Canteen, Cigarettes, trying to get the attention of the opposite sexes and SFI/TMCP.

· Youth Politics is not the craze or the new big thing. If it was then its youth vibrant icon - Mr. Rahul Gandhi wouldn’t have been over 40 years old!

· College Politics or the dada you do chamchagiri for now don’t help you later when you go begging for a job from one employee to another.

· There is lots of politics you will have to play in real life: Girls with their mother in laws, Boys with colleagues at Office, with Boss for promotion, etc. Spare some neetis for later use. And if politics was that great we might have leading universities imparting courses for its students.

Why I mentioned Bengal colleges in particular is because College Politics don’t exist in so large scale in other states. Leading Universities of Bengal are all tawaifs of our state’s ruling party so it dances to its Sheila ki Jawani. No offences meant to Sheila or any other persons I mentioned here. I love all of them specially Didi.

Budding politicians (who don’t understand a thing of politics) stay away from this dirt. The Universities in collaboration with the BBabus/ MDidis should realize and resolute against this or are they waiting for some more young ignorant comrades to part with their lives or eye?

Ban College Politics or we might see some more naive balls breaking and next time it won’t be the eye.

The irony is the guys who were in sfi once is presently shifting to tmcp in certain colleges..this shows their loyalty towards the union,n i wonder even after noticing these how do the young people trust these selfish seniors..also peer pressure n the new sense of freedom tht freshers get after joining a colg drives them to student politics of which they do not even understand a single ideal, also smtimes its jus to ensure tht they cn hav low attendance n wit the parties backing they cn get on wit it..i personally believe tht its bullshit n shud be stopped immediately to restore educational levels at a minimum standard..funny isnt it??
