Another month ends...Monthly Report for October

Another month ends, and what a soap opera it was!

It was month when India (particularly West Bengal) got to witness rebirth of the so called and segregated Maoists! Were they ever dead to be reborn? Or maybe they were dormant? Or may be alive in someone else’s skin? I do not know. But seriously let’s not get political.

The Maoist showed their might by storming into a bank followed by a Police Station (refer to news on 20 Oct’09;Tuesday) They looted and killed and abducted and finally a hostage drama. I wouldn’t be surprised if sooner or later we witness a movie as this makes a perfect storyline for a Bollywood action flick. The Maoist killed two police personnel in the Police Station itself while taking the Officer in charge hostage.

With all due respect to the dead and without rising a finger at their integrity, what I couldn’t figure out was what why were they wearing ‘LUNGI & VEST’ while on duty? I wonder if the officer who was abducted was in his underwear when he popped out of his room on hearing the shooting outside!
The message was clear: If the forces are prepared in a semi naked manner (with Lungi, vest and rusted barrel guns), then prepare for more attacks. Maybe Taliban will come calling next.

The Ministry shat in their pants sorry dhotis when this ‘drama’ was on. They eventually did give in to the Maoist’s demands, politically though. Followed by a blame game which saw the coining of a new term – TrinaMao.

The Maoist then blocked (and scribbled graffiti) the pride of the Indian Railways – Rajdhani (refer to news on 27 Oct’09) I felt this was to show that they do not support any political party, be it Kaashte Hathuri or Jora grass. No didis and babus! They are in a league of their own. Five years down the line, I will not get stunned if I see some Mr.Mahato fighting for the rights of farmers in Junglekhand for forcible acquisition of land by the Government or leading an agitation against BMW for setting up a Car Manufacturing Unit at Junglekhand and then may be go on all the way to become Railway Minister.

28 Oct – At least 125 killed by a car bomb in a market in Peshawar
23 Oct – At least 22 killed in three attacks in northern Pakistan
20 Oct – Eight die in the twin blasts at a university in Islamabad
16 Oct – Twelve die in a bombing in Peshawar
15 Oct – About 40 die in a series of gun and bomb attacks
12 Oct – Security convoy attacked in Swat valley, 41 die
10 Oct – Militants attack Rawalpindi army HQ – 20 killed
9 Oct – At least 50 die in Peshawar suicide blast
5 Oct – Five killed in suicide bomb at UN Islamabad offices

Above was a list of attacks in Pakistan. While in India, Maoist is showing their might…in Pakistan the Talibans and the Al Qaidas is busy bombing thus tearing apart the internal security of Pakistan. I pity the resident citizens of Pakistan. All I can think now is: ‘I am doing well for being born in India & and not being born in Pakistan.’

And all this is happening just after the Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary thoughts to strengthen international diplomacy and ‘reduce’ stock of nuclear arms in the world. My advice to all: ‘Keep talking and keep thinking (pun intented) you will end up being nobel’
