Its half past two in the morning and I just returned from the Burning Ghat, my second visit.

The first time was when I was in class X for my friends fathers death and this time was for my landlady’s daughters husband.

Without going into details about the cause of the death and pre events. Let me sum up the cause of the death as Kidney Failure.

Visiting burning ghats is not what I do often. Partly because of the fact that I dislike death and so this lead me to avoid any related places like Hospitals too. (I work in a Eye Hospital!) But I list this (accompanying the dead body to the ghat) as a part of my community service. Today I am there for them and if what goes around comes around then one day they will be by my side maybe I on their shoulders. Anyways lets not get into crappy philosophical ideology.

Lets narrate a few things which I would like to share:

1) 1)All bloody sympathies pour in when a person is dead and when alive he faces the hostility.

2) 2)I kept hearing everyone saying to the child ‘ what will happen to you now when your father is gone’

WHAT WILL HAPPEN? He will live a normal life without his fathers guidance. His mother is there and she is not crippled. I found this act & question a sign pf overreacting. Maybe that’s what people do when someone expires ; feelings are uncontrolled then!

3) 3) On a serious note, I had a new feeling today. The feeling og being alive when I saw a lifeless body I front of me. We both had body of humans ; just that mine was active and his wasn’t. I found a stark similarity between life and death and all the while I cound figure what it was. We were so similar yet it is a paradox.

4) 4) A mans expense starts from the time he is born and it DOES’NT end till the time he is dead. Yes you heard it right it does not end. He needs clean clothes (to burn in) + A new bed (which is taken away by the Dom’s and later resold; follows a cycle) + Incencse sticks and many more to add to the list.

Even the Pundit takes a hefty amount to perfotm the last rites of the soul departed!

Following this incident, I have decided of the proceedings following my death (whenever it is). I will post these here.
